DIY Obstacle Course

The weekend weather was glorious.  The kids managed to build a course using the materials and tools lying around the house and in the garden.  It was quite imaginative with changes in level, chicanes and various obstacles!

Ben did the driving, but we were also able to operate Dan-ED in autonomous 'maze following' mode for part of the course.  This used the code we developed for last year's 'Escape Route' challenge.  No modifications were needed, it just worked, although a bit ropey at times.

As an added touch, Ben donated several 'Dragons of Berk' (Stormfly, Toothless and Hookfang)  to do battle with.  He had printed them, as test objects, using the second hand 3D printer he had bought doing chores.

The first few test runs were a bit mixed, with a few 'accidents' along the way.  Careful driving was essential!

Danny had a go...  He managed to partly complete the course even after a track had fallen off!

Finally, we had a successful run!  Total time about 1m 50s. (I've had to link this in via youtube, as there seems to be a max file size for video uploads into blogger.)
